Key Largo Fishing heated up this past week with the arrival of our first winter cool front.
December is the last chance for Grouper
Along the reef the Black Groupers are biting and as well as the Mutton Snappers and Yellowtail Snappers. Gary, a regular yearly client from Chicago loves targeting Snappers and Groupers when he fishes with me. Check out his 30 pound Black Grouper he caught on a recent Key Largo Fishing Charter aboard Good Karma
Key Largo Fishing-Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi and Blackfin Tunas
The Wahoo is always on mind in this time of year. Last Friday I had 14 wahoo bites and caught 9 while fishing solo on my day off. This is my favorite fish to eat so on my days off I enjoy targeting wahoo. The Mahi Mahi will be on the move soon, we will either target these fish drift fishing using live bait fishing or trolling. We are getting some jumbo Blackfin Tunas as well while trolling for wahoo.
Florida Keys Patch Reef Fishing
Fishing the Florida Keys patch reefs is growing in popularity every year, which is great. I really enjoy patch reef fishing when I can not get out past the reef. Shallow water patch reef fishing is now an option for clients on windy days. The water has cooled down and the fishing inside the reef on these smaller patches of coral and rocks piles is good right now for all the snapper species along with Cero and Spanish Mackerels. Live Shrimp is the primary bait along with live Pilchards and Ballyhoo.
That is all I got today. Thank you for reading my fishing report and be sure to get caught up on my podcast series.
