Key Largo fishing has been good of late. Cooler temperatures have got the fish fired up and chewing.   I do not have a lot of time to put together a detailed Key Largo fishing charter report this morning,  but wanted to provide those that check out my website on a regular basis with a Key Largo Fishing update. For daily updates please follow me on instagram @ goodkarmasportfishing_fl_keys.

Key Largo Reef Fishing

Deep Reef

On all my trips outside the reef I target Jumbo size Yellowtails, Groupers and Mutton Snappers, I do not target small size Yellowtails outside the reef. If the conditions are right and the groupers are hungry we are getting a few nice size Black Groupers.

My charters are geared towards catching big snappers and groupers. Grouper Season closes on Jan 1.

Please note that Yellowtail Snapper fishing will slow down as the water temperatures drop. The fish get lethargic as the water temperatures cool down.

Shallow Water Nearshore Reef Fishing(inside the Florida Keys Reef Tract)

When it is cold and windy the best option for bottom fishing is anchoring up and fishing the shallow water patch reefs.  The best fishing is not always outside the reef.

My clients that return to fish with me every year love fishing the patch reefs on windy days.  On the patch reefs right now we are catching nice size Yellowtails and a Mutton Snappers.

I do believe that this recent cold snap will fire up the patch reefs even more. Hogfish are catch and release only and the Mutton Snappers must be 18 inches to keep, no exceptions.

The government closed Red Grouper early this year so these fish must be released.

Key Largo Offshore Fishing Charters

Check out Brook Crist Outdoors on YouTube. She just released her new video on Monday. She personally caught her limit of wahoo aboard Good Karma on lighter rods. No high speed trolling or electric reel fishing.  It is action packed video with a great hook and cook at the end so be sure to check it out.

On nice days I will target big game fish if the client wants to hunt. On these trips I am targeting wahoo, tuna, Mahi Mahi and Sailfish.

That is all I have time for today. Thank you for checking out my website and Key Largo Fishing report.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Ryan
